Next Station: Tokyo
Next Station: Tokyo review
Next Station: Tokyo is a fun, fast-paced game that puts you in charge of designing Tokyo's subway system. It's a clever take on the classic route-building genre, and I found it to be a really enjoyable experience.
The game is easy to learn and quick to play, making it perfect for a casual game night. You'll be drawing lines on your map, connecting stations, and trying to optimize your network to collect as many stamps as possible. It's a puzzle-like game that encourages strategic thinking and planning, but it's not too complex or overwhelming.
I've played both Next Station: London and Next Station: Tokyo, and I prefer the Tokyo version. I like the added challenge of working with the pre-existing green loop and the unique scoring rules. It forces you to think differently about how to build your network.
My only complaint, and it's a small one, is the visual appearance of the district lines. They're hard to see, which can make scoring a bit of a pain. I found myself double-checking my scores several times, just to make sure I was counting the districts correctly. Maybe a bolder color or a slightly different design would have been better, but it's a minor issue overall.
Overall, I highly recommend Next Station: Tokyo for anyone looking for a fun and challenging game that's easy to learn and quick to play. It's a great choice for both solo and multiplayer play, and I'm sure I'll be playing it many times in the future.
