Draft & Write Records
Draft & Write Records review
Draft & Write Records is a game that definitely caught my eye with its theme and the promise of a drafting and writing mechanic. I love the idea of building a band from the ground up, from those humble basement gigs to the world's biggest stages. The concept itself is exciting and full of potential.
However, my experience with the game has been a bit mixed. While the components are gorgeous, the rules presented a significant challenge. I found the game's mechanics to be incredibly complex, and I can definitely see why some reviewers found it difficult to grasp. The game is also very point-salad-y, which means there isn't always a clear "best" way to play. This can be both good and bad, as it encourages creative strategies, but it can also lead to a feeling of randomness in how the game plays out.
I do appreciate that the end game conditions are dynamic and can lead to some interesting scenarios, even if they can be a bit unpredictable. And while the game is intended for 1-6 players, I found it to be most enjoyable with 3 or 4 players.
Overall, Draft & Write Records has a lot of potential, but it definitely requires patience and a willingness to spend time deciphering the rules. If you're a fan of complex drafting games with a unique theme, then this might be worth checking out. However, if you're looking for a quick and easy game to play, this one might not be the best fit.
