The Great Split
The Great Split review
The Great Split is a drafting game where you split your hand of cards into two groups and pass them to your neighbor, who then chooses one group to return to you. The goal is to collect the most prestige points by acquiring riches like gems, gold, artwork, and tomes. The game is quick to learn and play, and it offers a good amount of strategic depth. It's also a rare find, being able to accommodate up to 7 players, making it a great option for larger groups.
I really enjoy the "split and choose" mechanic. It adds a layer of bluffing and guesswork as you try to predict what your opponent will want, and what you'll be left with. The component quality is nice, but the boards are a bit busy with information, which can be overwhelming for some players. The wallet used to pass the cards back and forth wasn't really necessary; it was easier to just hand the cards directly to the player.
Overall, The Great Split is a fun and engaging game that's perfect for a casual game night. It's not overly complex, but it offers enough strategic depth to keep you engaged. It's definitely a game I would recommend to friends and family.
