Streets
Streets review
Streets is a charming tile-laying game that caught my eye with its unique premise and engaging city-building theme. Right out of the box, it was easy to set up and get into the game, which was a big plus. My first playthrough took about 20 minutes, and I could see myself easily playing several games in a row. The gameplay is simple to grasp but offers strategic depth, particularly with smart placement of buildings and understanding the preferences of the different groups of people in the city.
One thing I particularly enjoyed was the dynamic nature of the game. You're not just building a city, you're actively shaping it with your choices, influencing how it evolves. It's a fun challenge to predict the moves of your opponents and exploit their investments to your advantage. The building valuations based on the street's composition add a layer of complexity that keeps things interesting.
I haven't yet ventured into the included expansions, but I'm definitely intrigued by the promise of asymmetric player abilities and added strategic layers. Overall, Streets is a delightful game that I'd recommend to anyone looking for a light and engaging tile-laying experience with a good dose of strategic decision-making. The replay value is high, and I'm eager to try out the expansions to explore the deeper aspects of the game.
