Pandemic: Rapid Response
Pandemic: Rapid Response review
Pandemic: Rapid Response is a fun, fast-paced spin-off of the classic Pandemic game. It's a cooperative experience where you and your team race against time to deliver supplies to cities in need. I've always enjoyed the Pandemic series, and this one is no exception. While it's not my favorite (that honor goes to Iberia and Reign of Cthulhu), it's still a worthy addition.
I was initially drawn to the real-time element, and it definitely adds a layer of excitement and urgency. You're constantly rolling dice, moving around the plane, and managing resources while keeping an eye on the timer. I do find the timer a bit stressful at times, especially when you're trying to juggle multiple tasks and realize time is running out. Some people find the timer to be a fun challenge, while others (like myself) might prefer a less frantic pace.
I appreciate the diverse team of specialists with unique abilities. The Analyst, Adjoua Soro, and the Engineer, Soojin Sohn, are particularly fun to play. The game is also very replayable, with the ability to adjust the difficulty level and add crisis cards for a greater challenge.
Overall, Pandemic: Rapid Response is a great choice for a quick and engaging cooperative game. It's not as strategic as the original Pandemic, but it's still a lot of fun, especially if you enjoy a good dose of adrenaline. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, fast-paced, and collaborative game experience.
