Charterstone review

Charterstone is a game that truly surprised me. I went into it with some hesitation, as I'm usually not a fan of legacy games. The idea of permanently changing the game felt a bit daunting, and I worried it might limit replayability. But, Charterstone completely won me over. The game is beautifully made, with great components and charming art. The mechanics are simple to learn, but offer plenty of strategic depth.

The legacy aspect is what really makes Charterstone shine. You start with a simple base game, but each session introduces new elements, adding complexity and variety to the experience. It's a lot of fun to see how the village evolves as you make decisions and build new structures. The story is also engaging, and the game feels like it has a real personality.

While I enjoyed playing with a group, I've also been playing solo with the automa system, and that has been a very satisfying experience as well. It's great to have that option for solo play, as I don't always have a group readily available.

Overall, Charterstone is a fantastic game that I highly recommend. It's a great choice for families, groups, and even solo players. I'm excited to see what Stonemaier Games comes up with next, but Charterstone will definitely remain one of my go-to games for a long time to come.
