Clank! Legacy: Acquisitions Incorporated review

Clank! Legacy: Acquisitions Incorporated is a deck-building game with a legacy twist that takes the core Clank! gameplay and expands upon it in a way that adds so much depth and replayability, it's almost unfair. I've been a fan of Clank! since the original game came out, but I always found the gameplay a little too stressful and lacked the narrative depth I crave. Legacy, however, is a whole new beast.

The campaign itself is truly engaging. Each game builds on the last, and your decisions have lasting consequences on the game world and your character. You'll find yourself making choices that directly affect the story and the game's mechanics. It's a wonderfully immersive experience. The "Book of Secrets" is full of humorous and engaging narrative, and the art throughout is absolutely delightful. The humor in this game is so spot-on that I haven't laughed this hard playing a board game in years.

Now, this game isn't without its flaws. Some may find the amount of narrative overwhelming, and the legacy elements can bog down the gameplay a bit. I found myself making a lot of mistakes in the first couple of games, and it can be a bit overwhelming if you're not familiar with the original Clank!. But, if you're willing to put in the time and effort, it's an incredibly rewarding experience.

One of the best things about Clank! Legacy is that, when you finish the campaign, you're left with a fully playable version of the game with a unique set of cards, rules, and a customized board. So, you get all the fun of a legacy game with the added benefit of a unique and highly replayable game afterwards. The components are fantastic. You get miniatures, a huge board, and a ton of other goodies. The only downside is the "Book of Secrets", which has a tendency to fall apart, so you'll want to be careful with it.

Overall, I highly recommend Clank! Legacy: Acquisitions Incorporated to anyone who loves deck-building games, legacy games, or just a good laugh. It's a fantastic game that delivers a unique, hilarious, and immersive experience. This is definitely my favorite legacy game and it's now a permanent fixture in my game collection. If you can find it for around $50, jump on it! You won't regret it.
