Clank!: Catacombs

Clank! Catacombs is a fantastic standalone deck-building game that takes everything I loved about the original Clank! and dials it up to eleven. The modular board is a stroke of genius, creating a truly unique dungeon experience every time you play. I can't emphasize enough how much I love the fact that each game is different, requiring you to adapt your strategy on the fly.

I've played a fair number of times now with both new and experienced players, and everyone has had a blast. It's easy to learn, even if you're new to deck-building games, and it's engaging enough to keep even seasoned veterans coming back for more. I also love the way the game encourages you to take risks, pushing your luck to see how much treasure you can grab before the dragon catches you. The tension builds beautifully, and it always leaves you wanting to play just one more round.

The game does require a bit of table space, especially as the dungeon grows, but that's a small price to pay for the immersive experience it provides. I haven't tried the Adventuring Party expansion yet, but it's definitely on my list. If you're a fan of Clank! or deck-building games in general, you absolutely need to check out Catacombs. It's a masterpiece.
