Lost Ruins of Arnak
Lost Ruins of Arnak review
Lost Ruins of Arnak is a game that I've been wanting to try for a while now, and I finally got my hands on a copy. I'm really glad I did, because it's a fantastic game! It combines several mechanics that I really enjoy, like deck-building, worker placement, and resource management, into a cohesive and engaging whole.
The game is set on a mysterious island where players lead expeditions to uncover ancient ruins and artifacts. The exploration aspect of the game is really well-done, with a variety of locations to discover and guardians to face. I especially appreciate the thematic implementation of the research track, which is often said to be less fun, but I think it's a clever and engaging way to represent the process of discovery.
The game is also very replayable, thanks to the randomized setup of the board and the variety of cards available. There are lots of different strategies you can employ, and the game always feels fresh and exciting. My only real complaint is that it can sometimes lead to analysis paralysis, especially towards the end game. But I think this will improve with more play throughs.
Overall, Lost Ruins of Arnak is a great game that I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys worker placement, deck building, or exploration games. It's a beautiful game with excellent components and a fun theme. I can't wait to try out the expansion!
