Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion review

Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion is a great way to get into the world of Gloomhaven without getting overwhelmed. I was initially intimidated by the original Gloomhaven, but Jaws of the Lion is much more accessible. It's a great standalone game, but it can also be used as a stepping stone into the full Gloomhaven experience.

The first thing that I really like about this game is the tutorial. It takes you through five scenarios, gradually introducing you to the mechanics. This is really helpful for new players, as it prevents you from getting lost in a sea of rules. I also found the rulebook to be very clear and easy to follow.

Another thing that I really appreciate is the spiral-bound map book. It's a great way to save setup time, as you don't need to fiddle with map tiles. The book also features new artwork for each scenario, which is a nice touch.

I also like that the game has a strong story. The campaign is well-written and engaging, and it really feels like you're on an adventure. The characters are also well-developed and interesting, and I enjoyed playing as each of them.

The game is a bit on the long side, as it takes around an hour to complete a scenario. But I don't mind, as I find the gameplay to be very engaging. If you're looking for a fun, challenging, and immersive board game, I highly recommend Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion. It's a great game for new players and veterans alike.
