Forbidden Desert
Forbidden Desert review
Forbidden Desert is a cooperative board game that takes you on a thrilling adventure through the sands of an ancient desert city. The game is a thematic sequel to Forbidden Island, and it features similar gameplay, but with a fresh new set of mechanisms that make it feel like a completely different experience. The goal of the game is to recover a legendary flying machine buried deep beneath the sand, and you'll need to work together with your teammates to survive the scorching heat, relentless sandstorms, and ever-shifting board.
I was initially hesitant about picking this game up, as I already own and enjoy Forbidden Island. However, the reviews convinced me that Forbidden Desert was worth a try, and I'm glad I did. The gameplay is more challenging than Forbidden Island, and the added layer of sand adds a level of urgency and unpredictability that I really enjoy.
The game components are well-made, and the metal tin box is a nice touch. I do agree with some reviewers that the propeller on the airship is a bit fragile, so be careful when handling it.
Overall, Forbidden Desert is a great game for families, couples, or game groups looking for a challenging and exciting cooperative experience. It's a lot of fun, and the replayability is excellent, as the board and distribution of roles is different each time you play.
I highly recommend Forbidden Desert to anyone who enjoys cooperative games, and especially to fans of Forbidden Island.
