Planet
Planet review
I was really intrigued by the concept of Planet – building your own world with magnetic tiles, attracting animals to your planet based on the environments you create. It's a very unique and engaging way to approach a strategy game. I've played it with my kids (ages 7 and 4) and they absolutely loved it. Even my 4-year-old picked up on the strategy pretty quickly! It's a good thing, too, because the game is pretty much all about strategy. There's a lot of fun in trying to figure out which tiles to choose to attract the animals you want. The component quality is fantastic - the planet cores are sturdy and the magnets are strong.
There are a few things that I think could be improved. The instructions are a little confusing, and it might be helpful to have a YouTube video to explain the game better. Also, the scoring rules could be a little clearer, and I found it helpful to remove all the tiles from the planet when scoring - it makes it much easier to count! I also think that the scoring rules for the animals could be a bit more balanced. It can be hard to get a lot of animals from your own natural habitat, and I think they deserve a bonus rather than a penalty.
Overall, Planet is a fun and engaging game for kids and adults alike. It's easy to learn, but still has a lot of depth and strategy. It's also great for a family game night. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and fun board game.
