My Little Scythe
My Little Scythe review
My Little Scythe has quickly become a favorite in our family. I was initially drawn to it as a more approachable version of the acclaimed Scythe, and it definitely delivers on that front. The mechanics are simplified, but the game still offers strategic choices and satisfying play.
What I love most is how engaging it is for players of all ages. My kids (8 and 10) grasped the rules quickly, and even my 6-year-old could participate with some guidance. The "friendship" mechanic is a clever addition that encourages cooperation, which I find refreshing. The game is definitely more about friendly competition than cutthroat battling.
The quality of the components is excellent, as you'd expect from Stonemaier Games. The miniatures are adorable, the board is sturdy, and the overall presentation is top-notch.
It's true that the game can be a bit on the short side, especially for experienced players. We've found that adding a few optional rules can extend the playtime and add some depth.
Overall, My Little Scythe is a delightful game that I highly recommend for families. It's easy to learn, fun to play, and provides a great introduction to the world of strategic board gaming. It's a gem!
