Century: Golem Edition
Century: Golem Edition review
Century: Golem Edition is a re-themed version of Century: Spice Road, and I have to say, I'm really impressed with the changes! The game is set in the world of Caravania, and you play as caravan leaders who travel the famed golem road to deliver crystals. The mechanics are simple and straightforward, but there's still plenty of room for strategy and player interaction.
The components are absolutely beautiful. The crystals are made of durable plastic and come in a variety of colors, and the coins are real metal! The artwork on the cards is gorgeous and adds to the overall thematic immersion. It's definitely a step up from the original Spice Road in terms of visual appeal and quality.
I really enjoy the gameplay. It's a nice, relaxing engine building game that's easy to learn but still provides a satisfying challenge. The game is perfect for family game nights or casual game sessions with friends. I especially appreciate the fact that it can be played with 2-5 players, making it flexible for different group sizes.
The only downside is that Plan B announced they won't be creating a Golem Edition of the expansions available for Century: Spice Road. That being said, I'm still very happy with the game as it is, and it's a great addition to my collection. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, engaging, and visually stunning engine building game.
