Redwood
Redwood review
Redwood is a unique game that combines strategic movement with an intriguing photography theme. I found the core concept of estimating distances and angles to capture animals in your "photo" to be quite engaging. The game components, including the plastic movement elements, add to the visual appeal and the overall experience. While I enjoyed the challenge of strategically placing my camera to get the best shots, I did notice a learning curve. Players familiar with the game's mechanics, especially the size of the movement pieces and camera lens scopes, would definitely have an advantage. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, as it adds a layer of depth and strategy, but it's worth noting for those new to the game.
The game's replayability is decent, but I agree that the variety could be more extensive. I'm curious to try the expansion to see if it adds more depth and options. Overall, I think Redwood is a solid game that offers a different type of strategic gameplay, but it's not for everyone. If you enjoy games that require careful planning and estimation, and don't mind a bit of a learning curve, Redwood could be a fun addition to your collection. However, if you're looking for a game with a ton of variety or depth, you might want to consider other options.
