Wyrmspan is a delightful game that's sure to capture the hearts of dragon enthusiasts and strategy game lovers alike. It builds on the familiar foundation of Wingspan, but with enough unique twists to feel like a standalone experience. The dragon illustrations are absolutely stunning, bringing the game's fantastical world to life. Each turn feels like a thrilling adventure as you explore intricate cave systems and entice majestic dragons to roost in your sanctuary. I especially love the adorable baby dragons!

While I appreciate the game's intricate design, I do find that it can feel a bit overwhelming for new players. It takes a few rounds to really grasp all the mechanics and options. That said, once you do get the hang of it, the game is incredibly engaging and offers a ton of replayability. I particularly enjoyed the ability to customize my sanctuary and the many different ways to earn points. The guild tracker, in particular, adds an extra layer of strategy and depth.

Compared to Wingspan, I find Wyrmspan offers a more balanced and strategic experience. While it's true that Wingspan's birdhouse display is pretty cool, Wyrmspan more than makes up for it with its elaborate setup and beautifully crafted components. If you're looking for a more challenging and engaging experience, Wyrmspan is definitely worth your time.
