The A.R.T. Project
The A.R.T. Project review
I've been on a mission to find a new cooperative board game for my group, and "The A.R.T. Project" has quickly become a favorite. It's a real thrill to play as members of the Art Rescue Team, trying to outsmart the "White Hand" organization and recover stolen masterpieces. The game does a fantastic job of capturing the feeling of a globe-trotting adventure, taking players from Japan to Rio de Janeiro, all while managing resources, fighting off art thieves, and collecting clues.
The game is engaging and accessible, with a relatively straightforward set of rules that allow for quick learning and a satisfyingly deep strategy layer. Each round is a tense balancing act, as you decide how to best utilize limited resources, make tough choices about which missions to undertake, and try to keep the White Hand from overtaking the cities. It's a game that requires teamwork and communication, as you must share information and strategize together to succeed.
I really appreciate the variety that the game offers. With six unique double-sided maps, each with its own set of rules and challenges, the replayability is excellent. There are a few moments where the game feels a little luck-based, depending on the dice rolls for combat, but the overall gameplay is quite strategic and engaging.
The quality of the components is top-notch, from the beautifully designed artwork to the sturdy wooden pieces. The game also includes a delightful little bonus – a postcard of a henchman wearing a baklava lounging on a desert island with a stolen Venus de Milo!
Overall, "The A.R.T. Project" is a fantastic cooperative game that offers a unique blend of strategy, teamwork, and a touch of humor. It's a game that I highly recommend for anyone looking for a fun and engaging experience.
