Aeon's End: War Eternal
Aeon's End: War Eternal review
I've been a fan of Aeon's End since the original release and was excited to finally get my hands on War Eternal. It's a fantastic standalone expansion that offers a whole new level of challenge and depth to the game.
Right off the bat, I was impressed by the new nemeses. They feel more intricate and engaging than the ones from the base game, offering unique win conditions and gameplay mechanics that keep you on your toes. The new mages are also a welcome addition, bringing their own unique abilities and strategies to the table.
One of the things I love about War Eternal is that it doesn't feel like just a rehash of the base game. It introduces new card types, like "Link Spells," which add a new layer of strategy and synergy to the game. The variable turn order system also adds a welcome element of chaos, making every game feel different.
Of course, no expansion is perfect. Some players have mentioned that certain content is more geared towards higher player counts and doesn't scale as well for solo or two-player games. Personally, I haven't found this to be a major issue, but it's something to consider if you primarily play with one or two other people.
Overall, Aeon's End: War Eternal is a fantastic expansion that significantly enhances the base game. If you're already a fan of Aeon's End, you absolutely need to check this out. Even if you haven't played the base game, War Eternal is a great starting point, offering a solid foundation for a truly unique and engaging cooperative deck-building experience.
