The 7th Continent
The 7th Continent review
The 7th Continent has been on my radar for a while now, and I finally took the plunge. It's a solo or cooperative "choose-your-own-adventure" exploration game with a heavy emphasis on survival, and it definitely delivers on that promise.
The game is inspired by the Fighting Fantasy book series, and it really does feel like you're playing through one of those. The world is full of danger and wonder, and you need to use every ounce of wit and cunning to survive.
The gameplay is a bit of a grind, and you will likely die many times before you even begin to figure out how to complete a curse. But that's part of the fun! It's like a rogue-like, and the sense of accomplishment you feel when you finally make progress is incredibly rewarding.
I've only played solo so far, but I can see how it would be a blast with a group of friends. The saving system is a lifesaver (pun intended!), and it makes it easy to pick up and play whenever you have some time.
The components are top-notch, and the game is absolutely beautiful. The cards are a bit on the thin side, but they are gorgeous and I haven't had any problems with them warping.
I'm really enjoying The 7th Continent, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys exploration, survival, and a good challenge. It's not for everyone, but if you're looking for a deep and immersive game that will keep you coming back for more, this is definitely worth checking out. Just be prepared to die a lot!
