Aeon's End: Legacy of Gravehold
Aeon's End: Legacy of Gravehold review
I've been a fan of the Aeon's End series since the first game, and I was eager to get my hands on Legacy of Gravehold. The premise of a legacy game with branching paths and increasingly difficult challenges was incredibly appealing. And while I enjoyed the narrative and the sense of progression, I have to admit I'm a bit disappointed with the game's pacing.
The core mechanics of Aeon's End are still strong, and the expansion brings a ton of new mages and nemeses to the table. However, the legacy elements felt a bit too fleeting for my liking. While the concept of earning experience and unlocking new abilities is fun, the speed at which those abilities are gained and lost can be frustrating. I felt like I was just starting to get a handle on a new mage or strategy, only to have it taken away in the next game. This creates a sense of instability that undermines the overall feeling of progression.
That being said, Legacy of Gravehold is still a fun and challenging game. The narrative is well-written, and the nemeses are truly formidable. If you're looking for a more immersive and replayable Aeon's End experience, this expansion is worth considering. But be aware that the legacy elements might not last as long as you'd hope.
