Sentinels of the Multiverse: Definitive Edition
Sentinels of the Multiverse: Definitive Edition review
Sentinels of the Multiverse: Definitive Edition has quickly become a staple in my game nights. I've been wanting to try this game for ages, and finally snagged it during a Prime Day sale. I'm a big fan of card games, especially ones with pre-constructed decks, and this one really delivers. The game is incredibly fair and affordable, especially considering the vast amount of heroes and villains you get right out of the box. I'm a huge Marvel fan, so I was initially hesitant about a superhero game that wasn't Marvel themed, but this game truly stands on its own. It's refreshing to have a comic book universe outside of the mainstream, and the art is phenomenal.
The gameplay itself is straightforward, yet surprisingly deep. Each turn follows a simple hero-villain-environment cycle, but the sheer number of combinations and the strategic depth of each hero's deck makes each game feel unique. The cooperative nature of the game is a big draw for me. You win and lose as a team, and there's no competitive element whatsoever. It's all about working together to overcome the villains and save the Multiverse. I've found that the game is best with 4 players, but it can be played with 3 or 5 as well.
This Definitive Edition features streamlined mechanics and updated art, making it even more accessible and visually appealing than the original. The game is a great value, with a ton of replayability. I've only just begun to explore all of the heroes and villains, and I can already tell I'll be playing this for years to come.
