Gloomhaven: Buttons & Bugs
Gloomhaven: Buttons & Bugs review
I was really excited to get my hands on Gloomhaven: Buttons & Bugs. As a huge fan of the original Gloomhaven, I was intrigued by the idea of a solo experience that captured the essence of the game in a more streamlined format. And for the most part, it delivers!
The campaign story is engaging, and the premise of being shrunk down to the size of a mouse and having to navigate a new world is a fun twist. The gameplay is definitely simplified, but it still feels like Gloomhaven in a lot of ways. I like the card system, and the ability to use both sides of the cards adds a bit of depth and strategy.
The production quality is good. The cards are sturdy, and the art is great. The only thing I'd say is that the miniaturization aspect of the game isn't really reflected in the components. There's no sense of scale, which is a bit of a shame.
Overall, though, I'd definitely recommend Gloomhaven: Buttons & Bugs to any fans of the original game. It's a great way to get your Gloomhaven fix without the commitment of a full-length campaign.
