Coffee Roaster
Coffee Roaster review
Coffee Roaster is a solo game that has quickly become one of my favorites. The concept is simple: you roast different types of coffee beans and try to make the perfect cup. You choose three types of beans, each with their own unique characteristics and target roast levels. You then draw tokens from a bag, representing the different beans and other elements like smoke and burnt beans, and use them to manipulate the roast level. It’s a simple process, but it’s surprisingly engaging.
I really enjoy the strategy involved in deciding which beans to roast and how to manage the elements in the bag. There's a nice balance of luck and skill, and it's always a challenge to achieve the perfect roast. I also appreciate that the game is quick, taking around 15-20 minutes per session. It’s a great game for a quick solo session or for a leisurely afternoon with a cup of coffee.
However, I have to admit that the quality control seems to be a bit of an issue. I saw several reviews mentioning misprinted components, and unfortunately, I experienced it myself with the coffee cup. It's a shame because the components are otherwise well-designed and nicely made. If you are considering purchasing this game, I recommend checking for any misprints before you play.
Overall, Coffee Roaster is a fun, relaxing, and challenging solo game. I really enjoy the coffee theme and the strategic gameplay. If you’re looking for a good solo game, I definitely recommend giving it a try, just be sure to inspect the components for any potential issues.
