Maquis
Maquis review
Maquis is a fantastic solo game that really captures the tension of the French Resistance. The game is simple to learn but offers a lot of replayability thanks to the variable mission cards and difficulty levels. I found myself really getting into the theme, feeling the pressure of each turn as I tried to complete my missions while avoiding the German patrols.
The components are high quality, and the game is surprisingly portable. I really appreciate that it's a quick-playing game, as I don't always have a lot of time for longer games. It's also great for those who are new to solo games, as it's a good introduction to worker placement mechanics.
I have to agree with other reviewers that the game is a bit on the expensive side for what you get. However, I've found the gameplay to be so engaging that I don't mind the price. If you're looking for a fun, challenging, and thematic solo game, I highly recommend Maquis.
