Return to Dark Tower
Return to Dark Tower review
Return to Dark Tower has been on my radar for a while, and I finally took the plunge. Having played the original Dark Tower as a kid, I had high hopes, and I'm happy to say this game exceeded them. The gameplay is fantastic, and the app integration is a game-changer. It keeps track of battles, dungeons, quests, and more, making the game really smooth to play. I love that you can customize the enemies, making each playthrough unique. The game is fun for both cooperative and competitive play, giving you lots of options.
I've only played with my partner so far, and we can usually finish a game in about an hour, but it can definitely take longer depending on how you play. The app and character sheets make it easy to keep track of everything, and the game is pretty easy to learn, even though there are a lot of moving parts. Overall, I highly recommend this game. It's a ton of fun and the quality is fantastic.
There are some things to be aware of, though. The game is a bit pricey, but it's worth it for the quality and replayability. You also absolutely need an iPad to play, which is a bit of a bummer. And while the tower is really cool, it does eat up batteries like crazy. I've had to replace them after just a couple of games.
Despite these minor drawbacks, Return to Dark Tower is a great game that I'd recommend to anyone who enjoys cooperative board games with a good amount of strategy and depth.
