Wonder Book
Wonder Book review
Wonder Book is a delightful cooperative adventure game that feels like a magical journey through a pop-up storybook. The game's captivating premise of exploring the world of Oniria through an ancient tome immediately drew me in. The setup is simple, with each player taking on the role of a teenage adventurer, but the gameplay is dynamic and engaging.
I was particularly impressed by the way the game unfolds through six distinct scenarios, each with its own unique challenges and rewards. The pre-sorted card decks, containing the rules, story, and challenges, effectively guide the narrative and provide a structured progression. The 3D cardboard pop-up book is a visual delight, seamlessly integrating with the gameplay and bringing the world of Oniria to life. The various scenarios offer a wide range of activities, from exploration and combat to solving riddles and playing mini-games, ensuring a diverse and captivating experience.
One minor point to consider is that the game might be slightly challenging for younger players due to the amount of reading involved. While my own six-year-old enjoyed it, they did require some assistance with the text. Nevertheless, the engaging visuals and cooperative nature make it a potentially enjoyable experience for families with older children.
Overall, Wonder Book is a highly recommended game for families and groups of friends seeking a fun and immersive adventure. Its engaging storytelling, unique mechanics, and beautiful presentation make it a standout choice for board game enthusiasts of all ages.
