Similo
Similo review
Similo is a fun, cooperative deduction game that's easy to learn and quick to play. The game's core mechanic is simple: you play cards to give clues about a secret character, and other players must use those clues to deduce which character is the secret one. I really enjoy playing Similo with my friends and family. It's a great game for a quick game night or for filling a little downtime.
One of the things I like most about Similo is that it's very thematic. Each version of the game — e.g., Fables, History, Myths — comes with a deck of thirty cards, beautifully illustrated by Naïade, showing the portrait and the name of a series of characters with a common theme. The artwork is stunning, and it really adds to the atmosphere of the game. It's also a good conversation starter. When we played the History version, there was a lot of discussion and learning as people got to know more about historical figures they might not have been familiar with.
However, it's not without its flaws. Some reviewers have criticized the game for its lack of diversity, particularly the lack of representation of Black people in the History deck. I agree that this is a serious oversight, and it's something that the publishers should address. It's a great game, but the lack of representation is a serious issue.
Overall, Similo is a fun, fast-paced, and engaging game that is great for families and friends. It's also a relatively inexpensive game, making it a good value for the money. However, if you are concerned about diversity, you might want to consider another game.
