Railroad Ink: Blazing Red Edition
Railroad Ink: Blazing Red Edition review
I've been a fan of the original Railroad Ink for a while now, and when I saw the Blazing Red Edition with its Lava and Meteor expansions, I knew I had to get it. I was a bit hesitant at first because I already owned the Blue edition with the River and Lake expansions, but after reading some reviews, I decided to take the plunge.
The components are high quality, with nice dry-erase markers and boards that erase easily. The dice are also bigger than your standard D6, which makes them easy to read, even with multiple players. The game itself is a lot of fun, and the path-building aspect is really engaging. The bonus dice add a great element of replayability, as you can choose to use one of the two modules in the box, or play without either of them. I recommend trying the base game first before diving into the expansions.
One of the things I really like about Railroad Ink is that it's surprisingly thematic for a game that's so easy to learn. You're essentially building a transportation network by drawing routes on your board based on the dice rolls, and it's surprisingly engaging. The expansions add a nice layer of complexity and challenge, but they're not necessary to enjoy the game.
Overall, I highly recommend Railroad Ink: Blazing Red Edition. It's a great game for both new and experienced gamers, and it's a fun and engaging way to spend an hour or two. The expansions are a nice bonus, but the base game is more than enough to keep you entertained.
