Terror Below
Terror Below review
Terror Below is a really fun, fast-paced game that had me hooked from the moment I opened the box. The theme is spot-on, and the components are top-notch – the board is double-sided, with one side having a canyon, which adds a new dimension to the gameplay. The artwork is fantastic, and the game board itself is a real eye-catcher. I particularly enjoyed the quirky characters and their unique abilities. The gameplay is simple to learn, but there's enough depth to keep things interesting. It's all about collecting worm eggs, delivering them to locations around town, and maybe even hunting down some of those nasty worms for some extra points.
I do agree with some of the other reviewers that the rulebook could be a little clearer, and I found myself referring to online resources a few times. But once I had a good grasp of the rules, the game flowed really well. One thing I really appreciate is that the game is easy to set up, and it doesn't take long to get a game going. I also loved that it's a game you can play solo, and it even has a few different scenarios.
The biggest complaint I've seen about the game is that the worm standees don't actually have a gameplay function – they're just there for decoration. I actually kind of liked that, though. It made the worms feel more like a constant threat lurking beneath the surface, always ready to strike.
Overall, Terror Below is a great game that I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys pick-up-and-deliver style games with a bit of a quirky twist. The game is fast-paced, fun, and visually appealing. While the rulebook could use a bit of work, the game is easy enough to learn, and I found myself wanting to play it again and again.
