Sub Terra
Sub Terra review
Sub Terra is a cooperative game that puts you in the role of amateur cavers attempting to escape an unexplored network of subterranean tunnels. The game has a great theme and the components are high quality. Each player takes on a role with specialist abilities, like an Engineer with dynamite or a Scout who can find a route more easily. I really enjoyed the feel of the game, where you have to balance exploring the cave system and the perils that lie within. The game can get intense when floods, gas leaks and cave-ins occur, and you have to make sure everyone makes it out alive.
I've found that the game is much more fun with more people playing. It's almost impossible to play with two players using only one character each. The game really shines when you have a full group of 4-6 players, each taking on a different role and working together to survive the dangers of the cave.
I love how the game uses a randomized stack of cave features to determine the layout of the cave system. It keeps the game fresh and exciting, and you never know what you're going to get. The event cards that determine the dangers you face are also great, and they add a lot of tension to the game.
I really enjoy the theme and the art work. The game is easy to learn and has a lot of replayability. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who loves a co-op game and are fans of dark creepy caves!
