Reign of Cthulhu
Reign of Cthulhu review
Pandemic: Reign of Cthulhu takes the classic cooperative gameplay of Pandemic and throws it headfirst into the chilling world of H.P. Lovecraft. As a huge fan of both Pandemic and Lovecraftian horror, I was immediately drawn to this game, and I'm happy to report that it lives up to the hype.
The game itself is a beautiful piece of art, with dark and brooding colors that perfectly capture the feel of a Lovecraft story. The locations, villains, and character archetypes all feel ripped straight from the pages of his works. The game mechanics are also very well done, and the sanity system adds a unique and terrifying element to the gameplay.
There's a bit of a learning curve, especially for those new to Pandemic, but the rules are well-explained and the game itself is easy to pick up after a few playthroughs. The components are also top-notch, with sturdy card stock, well-detailed miniatures, and a gorgeous game board.
However, some might find the game a bit easier than the original Pandemic, which is a double-edged sword. While it's great for introducing new players to the cooperative gameplay, seasoned Pandemic players may find the experience less challenging.
Overall, Pandemic: Reign of Cthulhu is a fantastic game that I highly recommend for fans of both Pandemic and Lovecraftian horror. It's a fun and engaging game that's sure to provide hours of entertainment.
