Hammer of the Scots review

I've been wanting to play Hammer of the Scots for a while now, and I finally got my hands on a copy. I'm happy to report that it's a really fun game! The premise of the game is simple: the English player tries to pacify Scotland by controlling the noble lords, while the Scottish player fights for freedom. The game's mechanics are straightforward and easy to learn, which makes it a great choice for playing with family or friends.

One of the things I really enjoyed about the game is the map. It's a full-color map of Scotland and Northern England with heraldry of the important noble families. It's really beautiful and adds a lot to the game. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't mounted, but it's still a great map nonetheless. The other components are also well-made. The wooden blocks are great quality and the event cards are interesting. I was a bit surprised by the lack of rounded edges on the cards, but overall they seem solid enough.

The game is playable for both solo and two players. I haven't had the chance to try it out solo yet, but I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun. With two players, the game can last for a few hours and is a great way to spend an afternoon.

Overall, I'm very happy with Hammer of the Scots. It's a fun, engaging game that's perfect for history buffs and gamers alike. I highly recommend it!
