Escape Room: The Game is a fun and engaging way to bring the escape room experience home. The game includes four unique 60-minute escape room puzzles that will test your problem-solving skills. While I confess I didn't have high expectations, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and complexity of the puzzles.

The Chrono Decoder, a central timer piece, adds a sense of urgency and immersion to the experience, making it feel less like a board game and more like a real escape room. The hints, while helpful, are strategically timed to encourage players to use their brains before resorting to assistance.

The game does have a few drawbacks. The puzzles are quite detailed and some of the text is very small, making it difficult for everyone to see clearly, especially with a larger group. A magnifying glass is definitely recommended. I also found that the Chrono Decoder can be a bit finicky, sometimes misreading the correct answers and causing unnecessary frustration. I've read other reviews mentioning this issue, but it didn't happen to us too often.

Overall, I highly recommend Escape Room: The Game for families and friends who enjoy puzzle-solving challenges. It's a great way to spend an hour or two working together and testing your wits. Just be sure to have a magnifying glass handy!
