Cosmoctopus
Cosmoctopus review
Cosmoctopus is a quirky and fun engine-building game that I've been enjoying immensely. The theme is definitely unique, and the gameplay is engaging and strategic. I love how it takes the worker placement concept and turns it on its head, creating a "take-that" element that adds to the player interaction.
The game is surprisingly easy to learn, despite the initial complexity. The rules are clearly laid out, and the game itself is intuitive once you get the hang of it. I found the artwork to be stunning, and the components are high quality.
I've played Cosmoctopus with both 2 and 3 players, and it works well in both configurations. The game is relatively balanced, and the playtime is about right (around 60-90 minutes depending on the group size). The solo mode is a nice bonus, and I've found it to be quite challenging and rewarding.
I would definitely recommend Cosmoctopus to anyone who enjoys engine-building games. It's a great option for both casual and experienced gamers. Just be aware that the game may be a bit too complex for younger players.
