Cantaloop: Book 1 – Breaking into Prison review

Cantaloop: Book 1 – Breaking into Prison is a truly unique and engaging experience. It takes the classic point-and-click adventure game genre and translates it beautifully into a physical, tactile format. The book itself is a work of art, with stunning illustrations and a clever design that allows for a truly immersive gameplay experience.

I loved how the game feels so much like playing a classic PC adventure game. The puzzles are challenging but fair, and the humor is spot-on. The story is captivating, and the characters are well-developed. I particularly enjoyed the snarky dialogue and the obscure ways you need to solve puzzles. It really reminded me of games like Curse of Monkey Island.

One of the things I appreciated most about Cantaloop is the inclusion of a helpful hint system. It's not a walkthrough, but it does provide enough guidance to keep you from getting completely stuck. This is especially useful for younger players or those who are new to this type of game.

While I personally enjoyed the game, I can see how it might not be for everyone. Some reviewers felt that the story could be more linear, and that the book itself wasn't durable enough. I also agree that the rulebook could be a bit more clear, especially regarding the difference between "objects" and "items".

Overall, I highly recommend Cantaloop: Book 1 – Breaking into Prison to anyone who enjoys puzzle games, adventure games, or just creative, out-of-the-box thinking. It's a fun and engaging experience that I'll definitely be revisiting in the future.
