XenoShyft: Onslaught
XenoShyft: Onslaught review
XenoShyft: Onslaught is a fast-paced, cooperative deck-building game where players defend their base against waves of alien invaders. The game does a fantastic job of capturing the feeling of a desperate battle against overwhelming odds, and I found myself constantly on edge, making tough decisions to keep my troops alive and my base intact. The game has a lot of replay value, thanks to the randomized enemy waves, the ability to customize your deck, and the different strategies players can employ.
One thing I really appreciate about this game is the teamwork involved. You have to work with your fellow players, communicating and strategizing to maximize your chances of survival. It's a truly collaborative experience, and it's very satisfying to pull off a coordinated defense and survive a particularly challenging wave.
The game can be quite difficult, but the difficulty is balanced by the feeling of accomplishment you get when you win. Even when you lose, it's a fun experience, and you'll want to play again and try to improve your strategy. I've enjoyed playing this game solo as well, though it is much more challenging. The game is very well-themed, and the art on the cards is fantastic.
The game does have a few drawbacks, however. The components, while good, are a bit on the flimsy side. I've also heard some people complain about the size of the cards, which can make it difficult to shuffle them. However, these minor drawbacks are easily overcome, and I would still highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys cooperative deck-building games, sci-fi, or a good challenge.
