XenoShyft: Dreadmire
XenoShyft: Dreadmire review
I was excited to get my hands on XenoShyft: Dreadmire, especially after hearing about the improvements over the original XenoShyft. I have to say, the game does a great job of building on the original's foundation. The new enemy types are truly terrifying, and the expanded troop and item decks add a ton of variety to the gameplay.
I really appreciate the improved base abilities and the way the game balances the difficulty level. It feels much fairer and more engaging than the original, especially for new players. That said, the decision to completely replace the original content instead of adding to it is a bit disappointing. I wish I could mix and match the elements from both games, but it seems like the developers decided to go in a different direction.
However, I have encountered a few issues with the game. I've heard reports of missing components, and even though I haven't experienced that myself, it's definitely a concern. Additionally, the game can get quite long, especially with more than two players. The turns can feel drawn-out, and the reliance on luck can be frustrating at times.
Overall, XenoShyft: Dreadmire is a solid improvement over the original game and a great choice for fans of deck-building and cooperative board games. Just be sure to be aware of the potential for missing components and be prepared for a lengthy playtime.
