Troyes Dice
Troyes Dice review
I was really excited to try Troyes Dice. The premise of managing a Champagne family in medieval Troyes sounded intriguing, and the roll-and-write format seemed like a fun way to experience that. Unfortunately, my experience was marred by a big problem: the game I received was in Spanish! It was only after I got it that I noticed the tiny mention of it being the Spanish edition.
I understand that sometimes things get mixed up, but the lack of clarity on the product page was frustrating. Even more so was the fact that it was not easy to return the game. I would have had to pay a hefty fee, which felt unfair considering it wasn't my fault. It seems like this isn't an isolated incident, as many other reviewers have had the same experience.
The game itself, from what I could glean from the Spanish rules, seems like a solid roll-and-write. The mechanics are interesting, and the theme is engaging. However, the language barrier made it impossible for me to enjoy the game properly. If you are a Spanish speaker, you might have a good time. Otherwise, I'd recommend steering clear unless you're comfortable with figuring out the rules yourself or find a French version.
