Age of Civilization review

I was drawn to Age of Civilization because of its compact size and promise of strategic depth. As a fan of civilization-building games, I was excited to see a game that could fit in my bag and still offer a meaningful experience. And I wasn't disappointed!

The game's setup is straightforward. You choose a civilization card, gain workers based on its population, and then strategically place those workers on actions to earn resources, research technologies, build wonders, and ultimately, earn victory points. The fact that you can swap out your civilization cards for new ones throughout the game adds a layer of dynamic decision-making, and the legacy abilities you unlock with each civilization ensure that your choices have lasting impact.

While the game is only six rounds long, I found it to be surprisingly engaging and full of strategic choices. There are so many different paths to victory, from focusing on technology to building wonders to conquering your opponents, that each game feels fresh and different. The game's small size makes it perfect for travel, and its fast-paced nature makes it a great choice for a quick game night.

One thing I do wish was different is that the game could benefit from a few more rounds. I often find myself wishing for more time to implement my plans. But overall, this is a fantastic game, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a portable, strategic, and fun civilization-building game.
