Hadrian's Wall
Hadrian's Wall review
Hadrian's Wall is a complex and engaging Roll and Write game that really scratches that solo gaming itch. I've played this game close to 60 times, and I'm still finding new ways to optimize my strategies! The game is packed with choices, and there are many paths to victory, making each playthrough feel fresh and rewarding.
The theme is well-implemented, and the artwork is truly beautiful, making it one of my top 3 games for aesthetics. I particularly enjoy the focus on the Roman Empire and the building of Hadrian's Wall – it's a fascinating historical setting. The solo campaign is a fantastic addition, offering a challenging and engaging experience.
While I haven't played multiplayer yet, it seems like it would be a good experience for those who enjoy that kind of interaction, although it's definitely more of a solo game at its heart. The game mechanics are satisfying, and the combination of worker placement and Roll and Write elements makes for a unique and enjoyable experience. I also appreciate the box's compact size, perfect for storing the game's many components, which include a ton of sheets!
If you're a fan of Roll and Write games, especially those with a bit more depth, Hadrian's Wall is definitely worth checking out. It's a complex game, but once you get the hang of it, it's a fun and engaging way to spend an afternoon!
