Gizmos
Gizmos review
Gizmos is a fantastic engine-building game that's easy to learn but offers a lot of depth for those who want to delve deeper. The basic premise is simple: collect energy (marbles) to build machines (gizmos), which in turn grant you victory points. The real fun comes in the combo effects of the gizmos, creating chain reactions and unique strategies for every game.
I was immediately drawn to the game's accessibility. Even though there are a lot of special actions and card combinations to learn, the core mechanics are simple and straightforward. This makes it a great game for both casual players and those who want to dive into more complex strategy.
I've enjoyed playing this game with various groups, from casual family game nights to more experienced gamers. It scales well for different player counts and everyone seems to have a good time.
There are a few minor drawbacks, however. Some reviewers mentioned the marble dispenser being prone to jamming, requiring a shake or tap to get the marbles flowing. This is something to keep in mind if you're considering this game. Additionally, there have been reports of missing pieces, which is unfortunate.
Overall, despite these minor hiccups, Gizmos is a fantastic game that I highly recommend. It's engaging, strategic, and offers endless replayability.
