Hadara
Hadara review
Hadara is a fantastic game that I've been enjoying with my friends and family. It's a great choice for people who enjoy games like 7 Wonders and Catan, as it shares similar mechanics of card drafting and engine building. I was particularly impressed by the game's unique take on card drafting, set collection, and engine building which makes it feel fresh and engaging.
What I like most about Hadara is its fast-paced gameplay and the strategic decisions you have to make. The game is played over three epochs, with each epoch having two phases. The simultaneous actions during the first half of each era make the game move quickly, and the card acquisition phase in the second half offers exciting choices. It's also a great game for different player counts. I've played it with two players, and it's equally enjoyable with higher player counts of four to five.
The components are high-quality and beautiful. The box is well-organized, and the cards are gorgeous. The game is also very easy to teach, which makes it a good choice for introducing new players to board games.
One thing I'd like to see improved is the lack of adequate compensation for being the fourth or fifth player, as you never get to select the deck you draw from first. This can be a bit frustrating, but it doesn't significantly detract from the overall gameplay experience.
Overall, I highly recommend Hadara. It's a fun, engaging, and well-designed game that I'm sure will become a staple in your gaming collection. It's a great choice for families, friends, and experienced gamers alike. Just be sure to remember to feed your people! They are building your empire, after all.
