Santorini: New York
Santorini: New York review
Santorini: New York is a fun, fast-paced strategy game that takes the original Santorini and adds a new twist. I love the original Santorini and was excited to try this one out. I was a little hesitant about the new mechanics at first, but they really add a lot of depth to the game. The hand management and shared abilities are great, and the game plays differently than the original, especially at higher player counts.
I've only played a few times, and only with two players so far, but I can already tell this game has a lot of replayability. The different role cards provide a ton of variety, and the Statue of Liberty mechanic adds a really cool dynamic to the game. I also love the new game board and pieces, especially the skyscrapers.
Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the quality of the components. The board is made of cheap cardboard and feels flimsy. The cards are also thin and hard to shuffle. The box was also slightly damaged when I received it.
Overall, I'd say this game is worth playing, but you might want to factor in the cost of replacing the components if you're planning on playing it frequently. Despite the component issues, this game is a lot of fun and is definitely a good addition to my game collection. I'm excited to try it with more players and see how it scales.
