Daybreak
Daybreak review
Daybreak is a cooperative board game about climate action. Each player controls a world power and works together to deploy policies and technologies to combat global heating and build resilient societies. The game ends in a win for everyone if you manage to draw down global emissions to net-zero. Otherwise, everyone loses if the global temperature gets too high or if too many people from any world power are in crisis. I found the game to be very compelling and challenging, with a lot of replayability. I was initially worried about the length of the game, but it turned out to be much more enjoyable than I expected. The climate change aspects are well-represented and the game reflects the big picture of what our global society needs to do. I also appreciate the small details, such as the scannable QR codes on the cards that link to real-world information. It's a great game, but you should be aware that there have been some reports of the game arriving damaged, especially if you order it from Amazon. I would recommend picking it up from a local game store to ensure that the box arrives in good condition.
