Codenames: Harry Potter
Codenames: Harry Potter review
I'm a big fan of the original Codenames, so I was really excited to get my hands on the Harry Potter version. It's a two-player cooperative game where you work together to reveal all the right cards before you run out of time or summon Lord Voldemort. The cards have words and images on them, so you can play with different levels of difficulty depending on the players' knowledge of the Harry Potter universe.
I found the game to be a bit more challenging than the original Codenames, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. You really need to know your Harry Potter lore to be able to come up with good clues. I also found that the Harry Potter-specific rules, which are designed to make the game more difficult, were a little too contrived and didn't really add much to the gameplay.
Despite these drawbacks, I still had a lot of fun playing Codenames: Harry Potter. It's a great game for fans of the series, and it's a good way to test your knowledge of the wizarding world. I think the game would be even better if it included the option to play with teams, as the original Codenames does. But even as a two-player game, it's still a lot of fun.
