Carcassonne
Carcassonne review
Carcassonne is a tile-placement game that has quickly become a favorite in our house. The concept is simple: players draw and place tiles featuring a piece of the French countryside, connecting cities, roads, cloisters, and fields. The real fun comes in deciding where to place your meeples (little playing pieces) to claim these areas and earn points.
I love the quick pace of the game. Turns go by fast, even with all the strategic decisions to be made. Should I use this tile to expand my city, or should I try to block my opponent? And is it worth risking my last meeple on that monastery? The strategic depth, combined with the simplicity of the rules, makes Carcassonne perfect for everyone, from beginners to experienced gamers.
This particular version of Carcassonne includes the "River" and "Abbot" mini-expansions, which add some interesting new elements to the game. I like that you can choose to include these expansions or not, depending on your mood. It's nice to be able to adjust the complexity of the game based on your group's preferences.
We've had a lot of fun playing this game with family and friends, and it's always a hit. If you're looking for a great tile-placement game that's easy to learn but has a lot of replay value, I highly recommend Carcassonne!
