Riverboat
Riverboat review
Riverboat is a fantastic game that has quickly become a favorite in my group. The core gameplay revolves around managing your farm, harvesting crops, and transporting goods down the Mississippi River to New Orleans. The game is surprisingly strategic, with a good amount of player interaction and decision-making to be had.
I really enjoy the worker placement and set collection mechanics. The drafting of phase cards is a fun twist and adds a level of competition as you try to outmaneuver your opponents. The game has a good amount of depth, but it's still relatively easy to learn, making it a great option for both experienced and newer gamers.
Some reviews mention that the game feels a bit unbalanced in favor of the "Harbormaster" role, which I haven't personally experienced. While I can see how this might be a concern, I think it's a matter of strategy and adapting your playstyle to the situation. Overall, I find the game to be well-balanced and offers a lot of replayability.
I highly recommend Riverboat to anyone looking for a strategic, but relatively quick, game. It's a hidden gem in the world of board games and deserves more attention!
