Key Flow
Key Flow review
Key Flow is a delightful little card-driven game that feels like a streamlined, approachable version of its award-winning predecessor, Keyflower. It's remarkably engaging despite its simple premise. The core mechanic of drafting cards and then passing them on to your neighbors creates a delightful tension. You want the card you need, but you also want to leave your opponents with less appealing choices.
I found the game to be quite quick, with each of the four rounds (seasons) moving along briskly. This is a big plus for me, as I often find myself drawn to longer, heavier games. The pacing of Key Flow is a welcome change. It's easy to squeeze in a game, and the tension never really lets up.
The scoring system is cleverly designed, rewarding players for building diverse and well-balanced villages. There are multiple ways to score points, encouraging creative play and strategic thinking. The art style is charming and the components are of high quality.
I would recommend Key Flow to anyone who enjoys card drafting games or anyone looking for a quick, engaging game with a good amount of strategy. While I haven't had the opportunity to play Keyflower, I can see why Key Flow is considered a worthy successor. It stands on its own merit and is a fantastic game in its own right.
