Oros
Oros review
Oros is a truly unique and visually striking board game that I was excited to try. The theme of Demigods shaping the land is fascinating, and the gameplay reflects this well. I love the idea of manipulating the landscape with tile collisions, volcano eruptions, and mountain building. It's a constant puzzle of creative problem-solving and adapting your strategy as the environment shifts.
The action economy system with worker placement on your player mat is clever and allows for different strategies to emerge. I appreciate that each player's experience evolves as they invest their wisdom in various action improvements. It keeps things fresh and allows for replayability.
However, I must echo the concerns of other reviewers about the quality control. The game components are beautiful, but it's unfortunate to hear about damaged inserts despite careful packaging. This does detract from the overall experience, especially considering the price point. Personally, I'm not sure if I'd play Oros enough to justify the cost, even with its unique mechanics, and the potential for damaged components is a major turn-off. I'm hoping the publisher will address this issue and ensure future copies arrive in pristine condition.
Overall, Oros has a lot to offer in terms of gameplay and thematic depth. If you're a fan of strategy games with a unique puzzle element, it's definitely worth considering. Just be aware of the potential quality control issues before making a purchase.
