Monumental
Monumental review
Monumental is a game where you control a civilization that evolves through your city, a 3x3 grid of cards. Each card can be activated to gather resources like Science, Military, Production, Culture, and Gold, which you can then use to acquire more powerful cards from a common pool. The game has a clever mechanic where you can't activate all your city cards at once, forcing you to make tough choices each turn.
I really enjoyed the strategic depth of this game. You constantly have to weigh the costs and benefits of activating different cards and acquire new cards that give you powerful card combos. The game also has a nice modular board with provinces to conquer and a central location where civilizations' armies clash.
Overall, I found Monumental to be a captivating game that offers a good balance of strategic depth and enjoyable gameplay. The game is beautifully illustrated and the card artwork is fantastic. I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys a good strategy game with a unique twist.
